Under fire!

Upper Carniola, 20th September 1713

They had left behind the Venetian border shortly before dawn, and were finally travelling through Archduke Charles' lands. Tired and relaxed, Count of Erill and Marquis of Rubí had started slumbering peacefully, gently cradled by the carriage swing. The escort had also visibly relaxed their vigilance, and were now scattered in small groups, smoking and chatting quietly with their horses marching at a slow pace. Lady Elisenda was literally spellbound at looking the sorrounding landscape -an apparently neverending procession of ondulated hills draped in deep green pastures that contributed greatly to serenity and carefree contemplation...

Far from feeling that calm, Fiona McGregor turned backwards in her seat for the umpteenth time, scanning with concern the way the carriage was leaving behind.

-Fiona, what's the matter with you? -Lady Elisenda gently asked- Since we've entered in Austria I'm seeing you more anxious than ever...

-Well Milady, it happens that I can no longer see our persecutors -grumpily answered Fiona.

-And are you worried by this? But... it should be the opposite! We're safe now, my dear; don't worry anymore.

-So many dozens of leagues behind us, just as a fox pursues the rabbit, and they're now so obviously out of sight? It's now when the rabbit should keep more restless than ever! -and Fiona suddenly asked: -where do we have our weapons, Milady?

Lady Elisenda's smile got frozen on her lips. Fiona's concern was genuine, and her last words had somehow shocked the young lady: -Er... in the black trunk, I believe. On the luggage carrier. Why...?

Just then, the unmistakable crack of a musket shot abruptly tore the air, followed by several others. A window glass soundly shattered in a thousand shreds. The girls couldn't reprime a frightened scream, and the men were brutally thrown out of their peaceful dreams: -What the hell...!?

-We're under attack!!!

[This thrilling introductory scene means that, as promised a few days ago at the Emperor vs Elector community main blogsite, here you are a skirmishing/pulp story scenario, whose details can be freely downloaded in PDF format from here. The scenario has been jointly prepared by Jim of Syldavia and myself, to be proxy gamed by a third party, with the only request to be acknowledged of its development and aftermath -hopefully through a chronicle in your own blogsite...!]

These two fine Ladies passed some time in Monte-Cristo, and travel without their weapons at hand? Tss, tss, tss...
In peaceful and relaxed Monte-Cristo, every girl above 12 receives a scythe blade turned into a machete to keep within quick reach, just in case a stranger would appear in the neighbourood. And they keep it till death does them: even if at an elderly age a 'fate worse than death' looks less terrible than death itself (and even, according to a sarcastic poet, 'unhoped for'!), they have grand-daughter to defend...

Beg your indulgence, Monsieur!

I guess it might be mostly due to some over-confidence of Lady Elisenda -or maybe to a consequence of her silently growing anxiety at the perspective of meeting again her close friend Karl...

Surely each would have a small travelling pistol and a small dagger concealed on the person (I hesitate to suggest where...) at the very least! Like Jean-Louis I am shocked at such laxity on dangerous territory! ;-)

Looking forward to how this works out - hopefully whoever takes it up will provide lots of pictures.

Cheers,

David

Indeed, as David suggested [well, I guess...:)], what are traveling Ladies' garters made for?

And the driver and the 1-2 servants 'riding shotgun' don't have each a blunderbuss at hand? What country did they were thinking to enter? Switzerland?
Tss, tss, tss... Hope our heroines will survive and escape unharmed, nonetheless.

Lluis,

Many thanks for putting this together, it looks very interesting and I am eager to dee how Mr. MurdocK puts it into action.

For everyone else, you should realize that Lluis is extremely modest; his role in this includes the pretty much all the ideas and all the work as well. My role was that of force of nature, as in the second law of thermodynamics - entropy!

Not just eager, but deeply anxious indeed, Jim!! (ohhloordddd, what if 'my' Lady Elisenda gets hurt, or even worse???)

Seriously Jim, for such kind of gaming opportunities to become real, not just a single fellow is needed but actual, positive collaboration between several people -as in 'our' scenario. True that sometimes it's me who's worked out a great deal of real stuff, but any day else it will be you. And process will always be the same, just as results are: putting several gamers and their Imagi-Nations into a joint work bringing fun and entertainment to all -besides of making our respective Imagi-Nations grow up in background ans relationships!

I'm most glad for the mutual intelligence found at this EvE community. Thanks to you Jim and all the rest of EvE gamers!
